Many Ways of Giving
Give it time. Match it up. Pitch it in. Check it out. The QBP Community Service Program helps employees give back to their communities in a variety of ways. Our employees volunteer their time, make cash donations (matched by QBP), and donate goods through monthly drives. In 2008 our do-gooders gave over 1000 hours of their time to volunteer organizations; each hour is matched by QBP through a financial donation.

Bikes for Families
QBP employees adopted five local families in need of bicycles this holiday season. Through a series of bake sales, sample sales and an art sale we raised enough money for 14 new bicycles, locks, bells and helmets for each family. These bikes give the families a healthy recreational activity as well as providing them with a transportation solution.

Reaching at-risk youth with Full Cycle
In 2008, QBP began funding Full Cycle, a Minneapolis-based outreach program that offers free bikes to homeless and at-risk youth, as a way to engage them with vitally needed social services. The funding allowed Full Cycle to hire a fulltime bike mechanic, create a series of bicycle mechanic courses, and open a small retail business that repairs and sells used bikes.

Some of the Community Service committee’s current and past initiatives include:

  • Loaves & Fishes charity kitchen
  • Twin Cities Toys for Tots
  • Trips for Kids
  • Red Cross Youth Bikes
